Do you have a place that you visited as a kid that you know you enjoyed, but you don’t remember it that much? Or what about a place that you need to be a certain age to really enjoy the full effect of it? That was Key West for me. So when I got the opportunity to head down there for a week, I jumped at it. And I won’t lie, I thought that I would be partying the entire time, but the truth is there is so much more to the tiny island in Florida. There are so many things to do in Key West, and you’ll be sad to leave when your trip ends.
Six Things To Do In Key West
Go For A Snorkel With Fury
Did you know that Key West is home to the third largest reef in the entire world? I didn’t, so I was super excited to head out to snorkel it with Fury Key West. Sign up for one of their many tours and get exploring!
Take A Bike Ride
Topping the list of things to do in Key West would be renting a bicycle and riding around the island. The whole island is four square miles, making a bicycle the best mode of transportation. You can ride down Duvall Street, you can ride to the beach, and you can ride down to the marina.
Dine At A Local Spot
Sure, you could spend all your meals at one of the many bars and restaurants on Duval Street, but where’s the fun in that? Instead opt for a local spot. Grab noodles at Kojin Noodle Bar (seriously delicious ramen), pop across the street to The Cafe (a spot we visited twice) for some healthy, vegetarian eats, or bike to Date & Thyme for a delicious salad or juice. These are all great spots if you aren’t into eating fried food for every meal.
Be A Tourist
There are a lot of touristy things you can do on Key West. One of those is visiting the big buoy at the Southern Most Point. Prepare to wait in line for a photo with it!
Party All Day And Night On Duval Street
Okay, if you’re in Key West, you’re going to be partying at some point. And Duval Street is the spot for that. Spend the entire day and night bar hopping. Check out famous jaunts like Sloppy Joes and the Garden of Eden. Or pop into one of the other bars for live music (all day, everyday).
Catch The Sunset
I’m greedy when it comes to sunsets. I think it’s because I don’t really get to see them where I live in Florida because I’m on the East Coast. One of the things to do in Key West is catch the sunset. You’re in an ideal location to get a gorgeous view and the sunset does not disappoint down there.
This all looks so fun! I’ve always wanted to visit Key West 🙂
key west is so great!
