You have picked a destination, you have booked your fight… Now its time to start booking accommodations. You are probably looking for the perfect place to enjoy your holiday…right? Well look no further, here are some tips on how to find it and how to get the best deal possible.
I generally try to figure out what I’m looking for even before I start my search. Do I want an all inclusive hotel? Am I trying to stay in an apartment so I can save money on meals by having my own kitchen? Do I want to stay in a hostel? Am I trying to save money on accommodations to spend money on activities instead?
Once I have narrowed it down, I begin my search. My favorite sites are Booking.com, Agoda.com and Hostelworld.com. Those are usually the ones that I search through first (sometimes the same properties will be listed on all three, but the prices are all different!).
Then, I decide which site to book through. If I want to pay in cash when I arrive, I usually use Hostelworld because you only have to pay a deposit online and then you can pay the full fee at the hotel or hostel. Sometimes you aren’t given these options on Booking and Agoda (it also depends on the property you wish to stay at).
If I have decided I want to stay in an apartment, I will look at AirBnB which is actually often the cheapest way to find accommodations. Obviously you don’t receive the full service you would find at a hotel, but you can save a lot of money this way!
