Certain movies leave a lasting impression on you. They make you want to visit the places you see on your television or in the movie theater. You can be immediately transported somewhere exotic and beautiful, just by spending a few hours watching a story unfold before your eyes. These movies inspire me to travel, what are your favorites?
After watching this movie you may not want to join any communities on deserted islands, but you’ll definitely want to visit The Beach (aka as Maya Bay near Koh Phi Phi) in Thailand. You’ll instantly be drawn to the gorgeous beaches and amazing limestone cliffs that can be found throughout the south of Thailand.
I won’t lie, I watch this movie all of the time. Literally… I’m planning a trip to Bali so naturally I’m getting my inspiration from Elizabeth Gilbert…. This movie will make anyone with wanderlust want to jet set off to Italy, India and Indonesia. Keep in mind that the food in Italy does in fact look exactly as it does in this movie…so don’t be surprised if you find yourself sitting in a piazza at a small restaurant drinking a liter of wine and eating a giant plate of spaghetti soon.
Can you tell I love Italy? Prepare to want to hop on a plane immediately and head to Tuscany and live in the beautiful Italian hills. I lived very close to Tuscany and had the opportunity to travel there a few times and let me tell you, it’s just as perfect as it looks in the movie. You’ll be figuring out how to buy your own Tuscan villa as soon as the end credits start rolling.
