Walt Disney World is one of the most remarkable places in the world. Visiting Disney World as a child is truly magical and the memories that I have from when I went then, are always fresh in my mind. But, it’s always fun to go back to the places that we spent time at as a child.
Walking into Disney World on Friday was like taking a walk down memory lane. We began our day at the Magic Kingdom, followed by Hollywood Studios, and then Epcot. (I’m not a huge fan of the Animal Kingdom, so since we only had one day, we skipped it).
The day was full of running around (we walked 10 miles), and began at 8 AM, when the park opens. And we stayed at Epcot until after 10 PM. But, it was totally worth it. I hadn’t been to Disney World in a few years, and a lot has changed since my last visit. I hope that these tips can help you out when you’re planning your next visit to the Happiest Place On Earth.
Tips For Visiting Disney World
Sign Up For FastPass+ Ahead Of Time
Did you know that FastPass+ is free now? I didn’t. I remember having to spend an extra $20-$30 to skip the line. Now, the process is much different. You no longer get to just “skip” the long line and line up in the smaller line. Now you have to reserve a time in advance. That means you have to plan your whole day out before you arrive.
You can plan your rides out up to 30 days in advance. You get one, two, or three FastPass+ selections for each day of your visit. Each ride is separated into groups and you get one selection per group (I really suggest using one to ride Frozen Ever After in Epcot as it’s brand new! We didn’t get to ride it, because the wait was over 180 minutes!).
You can enter the ride at any time during your one hour interval. As you use your FastPass+, you could unlock more!
Find Out If There Is Something Special Going On During Your Visit
Visiting Disney World is a magical experience no matter when you go. But, there are a lot of special occasions that take place throughout the year. The parks completely transform depending on when you go. Some of the biggest events are Autumn, Christmas, The International Food & Wine Festival, and The International Flower & Garden Festival. Head over to the Disney World event page to find out the dates!
Make Sure You Check The Park Hours For The Day Of Your Visit
The park hours change daily. Sometimes there will be special Magic Hours (if you’re staying on the premises), or a special event. Make sure you check ahead of time because the hours are literally all over the place!
Where To Stay While Visiting Disney World
If you stay on site during your time at Disney World, you’ll often receive special promotions or discounts. These include early access to FastPass+, extra hours, complimentary MagicBands, complimentary transportation between hotels and parks, Disney dining plans, and magical hotel stays.
If you don’t want to stay on site, and you’re on a budget, there are a ton of hotels in the area that also offer free shuttle services to the parks. But, if you would rather drive your own car, parking costs $20 and you can move your car from park-to-park without having to pay again. We usually stay at the Park Inn Radisson, as it’s only a ten minute drive to the parks!
