Hong Kong is a pretty awesome place. The food and nightlife in Hong Kong is incredible. After living in Thailand for almost five months, I was pretty excited to be in a really big city and indulge… The next time I’m there, I will be eating a lot more dim sum and trying to stay out late for more than one night.
Here is a list of the places I dined and partied at while in Hong Kong:
Food and Drinks
Catch Juicery
If you’re interested in drinking a delicious, pressed juice, this is your spot. You can find it in Central Hong Kong and the selection is amazing. Taste test a few before diving in.
Whether its a really good glass of wine, a pint of craft beer or a milkshake, this is a great spot if you find yourself on the other side of the island in Stanley. Order the sweet potato fries and order three sliders: beef, chicken and pulled pork.
Also located in Stanley, this spot will leave you wanting more. First of all, their margaritas are INCREDIBLE. And thats speaking as someone who has been seeking out a good margarita for months. Secondly, their selection of small plates is impressive. I haven’t had fresh fish in a very long time and I could have sat there all night ordering more. Head there during the warmer months for a 180 degree view of the beach!
If you’re looking for some delicious dim sum for a low price, this is the spot. I think I must have had at least 30 pieces of dim sum. We kept ordering more and more. We went on a Saturday night, which was helpful for us since a lot of dim sum places aren’t open for dinner. We only had to wait about 20 minutes and then the food kept coming for a long time. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
I was DYING for some Chipotle-style Mexican food. I wanted something basic, inexpensive, that was still flavorful and this was it. Their Causeway Bay location seems to be closed, but head over to Central and you won’t be disappointed.
Nightlife
Also known as LKF, this area is THE PLACE to be after dark. Stop by 7-11 first, have a few beers and then proceed to barhop with a ton of other expats. For great throwback music, check out The Diner; for a view of everything down below head to Geranimo.
A perfect place to BYOB. In the summer there may even be a DJ or some live music happening. Plus, you get a stunning view of Kowloon.
If you are looking for a good place to grab some beers with your friends, this is it. It’s not too loud, but its still a place you’d want to go with a bunch of friends. Its a great spot to hit before you head to the really crazy bars.
They make their own Saki here. Its super dangerous because its actually delicious (I never drink Saki, but I could not resist here). They also serve food here, but keep in mind that after 9:30 pm its pretty much standing room only.
This is a great hidden spot. The only signage is in Chinese writing, so its often overlooked by many people. If you’re looking for a more laid-back spot, this is it.
