You probably know by now that I headed to Miami for a few days with my friend Hannah from The Sunny Side of Things. I only live an hour away from Miami, but I had never really explored Miami besides Wynwood. So, when Hannah and I decided to plan a trip together, we decided that Miami would be perfect. We ended up staying in two different areas: Miami Beach and South Beach. It was a great choice because we got to explore different areas. We had such wonderful stays at Circa 39 Hotel and Stanton South Beach and an even better time getting to know the colorful city of Miami.
So, now that you’ve booked your trip (you should totally stay at Circa 39 or Stanton), it’s time to find out what you should do while you’re there!
Five Things To Do In Miami
1. Wynwood Walls
I’ve written a post about Wynwood in the past, but this time around I got to experience the colorful area even more. The Wynwood Arts District is home to the Wynwood Walls, one of the largest areas of murals in the world. You can spend hours just checking out the many murals (I’ve now been there twice and still haven’t even scratched the surface).
While you’re there you should also check out Panther Coffee, Coyo Taco, The Butcher Shop, The Salty Donut, The Wynwood Yard, and Wood Tavern. The neighborhood is a great spot to explore during the daytime, eat delicious foods, and party until the morning.
2. Go To The Beach And Lifeguard Stand Hunt
Oh my goodness. The colors you can find on the beach are amazing. I think I have to do a separate post about the beautiful lifeguard stands. I think after my next trip to South Beach I will! Anyways, the lifeguard stands lining the beach in Miami are all painted in bright, beautiful colors. You should rent some bicycles and ride from one side of the island to the other to see if you can catch a glimpse of all of them.
3. Check Out Little Havana
Little Havana is a place that I need to go back to when it isn’t pouring rain. It’s such an adorable area and the next time in Miami I will definitely be popping into one of the bars for an authentic mojito. It also got me really excited for my upcoming trip to Cuba!
4. Visit The Vizcaya Museum And Gardens
This place was so stunning! The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens are located near downtown Miami and are incredibly beautiful The home used to belong to James Deering. It was his tropical winter home beginning in 1910. It really is worth checking out. I didn’t have much time to visit the museum portion, but the gardens are stunning.
5. Wander Around SoBe
South Beach is so eclectic. From the art deco architecture, to little hole in the wall cafes and eateries, it is such a cool spot. You can encounter people from all walks of life and really embrace the culture of Miami. You can go to the beach, you can grab a bite to eat, you can club hop, you can hotel hop, you can party, and you can shop.
Check out Big Pink, La Sandwicherie, Lincoln Road, Ocean Drive, and more!
