As you probably know by now, I fell in love with Slovenia. It was so different from any place I have ever visited before. And I mean that in the best way possible. Ljubljana was a really cool spot and staying at Big Berry in Bela Krajina was so relaxing. And then there is Lake Bled. A place that needs no introduction. I took a day trip to Lake Bled. It was perhaps the most beautiful and picturesque places I have ever been to. I literally felt like I stepped into a fairytale when I arrived there.
And the good news is, it’s actually a really simple day trip from Ljubljana.
An Easy Day Trip To Lake Bled
How To Get There
During the summer months, busses run hourly from the main bus station. The ride takes around an hour and a half because of traffic and stops. It’s pretty straight forward. Just ask the person selling tickets for a round trip ticket to Lake Bled. It will cost you about 13 Euro round trip.
The bus will let you out a short walk down to the lake.
What To Do
Rent a bicycle. I paid 10 Euro for six hours. It was totally worth it as I cycled around the lake twice, had lunch, and went for a swim. Oh, and I stopped about every four seconds to take a picture of the Church of the Assumption on Bled Island.
If you’re there in the summer, you must go for a dip. There are several swimming areas around the lake. Just lock your bike up and jump in! The water was cold, but refreshing. You can rent paddle boards too if you’d like! There are also row boats available that you can row to the island (but keep in mind that it costs more than a round trip bus ticket to Ljubljana to actually go into the church).
If you have a bit more time, then hike up to the viewpoint or check out the Castle.
Where To Eat
I ate at Pizzeria Rustika. I enjoyed a delicious (and massive) margarita pizza and a coke for about 10 euro.
