There’s just something about flying high over a rice terrace, and zipping through the jungle with the wind in your face…

Last weekend, I hopped on a bus from Phrae to Chiang Mai to finally cross something off my bucket list — Zip-lining. I have always wanted to go and I knew that it was popular in Thailand. So, it was obvious to me that it had to be done here. And while there are several options to choose from that are based out of the area, I went with Eagle Track Zipline Chiang Mai, after a friend of mine gave me a rave review.

Located about an hour outside of downtown Chiang Mai, Eagle Track Zipline is a wonderful tourism operator. From start to finish the entire experience was fantastic. And the best part about it? The staff. They were extremely helpful and they made my time there so much better than I could have imagined.

Situated between several hill tribe villages, Eagle Track has the perfect landscape for your day of adventure. You’ll find yourself soaring over rice paddies, the Maeram River, and rolling hills of Thai countryside.

But, lets start from the beginning…

If you’re interested in booking a day of adventure with Eagle Track Zipline Chiang Mai, there are three different packages to choose from. They are called the Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Each package is a little bit different because the different levels offer several variations in activities and number of platforms you’ll zipline from. For instance, if you choose Gold, you will be moving through the jungle on 35 different platforms made up of ziplines and various ropes course activities. Silver offers 20 platforms of fun, while Bronze offers just 15 platforms (good for younger kids!).

Do yourself a favor and go for the Gold! It was the perfect amount of time to get your adrenaline pumping and see how much of a thrill-seeker you really are. I honestly think that any of the other packages would have been too short and not adventurous enough for me.

Booking

You can book your day of fun either online or through your accommodations in Chiang Mai. No matter which way you decide to do it, keep your eyes peeled for a good deal! Eagle Track will provide roundtrip transportation for you from wherever you are staying. They will feed you a delicious meal and you will have access to unlimited water for the day.

The Staff

As I mentioned before, my favorite part of the day was had to do with the staff. And that’s because they made it their mission to make sure we were having fun. As always I brought my GoPro along for the ride. One of our guides was super helpful and would tell me which zipline would provide the best shots for me (it was kind of hard to hold the pole and ride the zipline, so I appreciated the tips)! It was really great for me since I’m always trying to capture the things that I do for you! They always made sure we were smiling and that was an awesome thing that often gets overlooked by tour providers.

My only complaint is that when we arrived, we had to wait for about an hour until we could get our harnesses on and head to the top of the course. It seems like the earlier you head over there, the less time you’ll be waiting!

Safety First!

I get a lot of questions about the safety of partaking in an adventure activity outside of their home country. Eagle Track Zipline Chiang Mai was an incredibly safe operation. We were given harnesses and helmets at the start of the day. Our harnesses were checked by our guides before we departed for the activity. We were always strapped into a rope that was attached to a guide, the zipline, or the tree where the platforms were situated. We were provided with water throughout the day as well.

As always, please remember to buy yourself some travel insurance every time you book a trip! You never know if you’ll need travel insurance, but if you know you’re going to be participating in adventure activities, it’s a really good idea to have it.
