Like I said in my last post, I had so much fun exploring Key West. It was the perfect getaway from where I live. And called The Gates Hotel Key West, home, while I was there, was even better.
#Checking In: The Gates Hotel Key West
When you first arrive onto Key West, you’ll turn right and find your hotel quickly. The Gates Hotel Key West is located on the Northern end of the island. If that makes you worried that you aren’t centrally located, don’t. There is a free shuttle that operates until 11PM that will take you back and forth to Duval Street. Or, you can rent a bicycle from the concierge and ride there yourself!
The Room
The rooms at the Gates Hotel Key West were stunning. The decor is perfectly beachy and the photographs that line the walls of them (and the lobby) will make you feel like you’re in the Caribbean, not in Florida. There are two levels in the hotel and the ones on the bottom level, pool side, have little seating areas out front. Our huge room had two queen size beds and a great bathroom. But, perhaps my favorite part of the room were those bathrobes (seriously, I’m kicking myself for not purchasing one, because #robelife).
The Hotel
So you’ve checked in and you’ve explored your room. Now what? Head down to the pool for a dip. Play a game of corn hole with your friends. Take the shuttle into town, or grab a drink at the bar, Rum Row, and listen to some live music. And if you’re hungry, make sure you grab a bite to eat at The Spotted Pig, a food truck that permanently resides steps away from the bar. And around sunset, make sure you cross the street to take it all in (seriously the view with the palm trees that line the road is amazing).
Travel Colorfully was welcomed as a guest to The Gates Hotel Key West, but as always, all opinions are my own!

First off I want to say great blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind.
I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing.
I’ve had trouble clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there.
I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15
minutes are usually wasted simply just trying to figure
out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips? Many thanks!
just start writing!
