There’s just something about New York, isn’t there? I could go on and on about how much I love it there, but that would get old pretty fast. I really enjoying escaping to NYC for a few days and actually stay in the city (instead of traipsing back and forth on the train). So when I had the chance to check into Life Hotel for three nights, I was so excited.
Checking Into Life Hotel
Located on 31st between 5th and Broadway, the Life Hotel is the perfect spot to call home while you’re exploring New York. The newly renovated hotel resides in the old Life Magazine building, making it not only a great place to stay, but a great place to soak up some history. The building was home to Life Magazine from 1893 to 1933. The historical building acted as a co-work space for the employees of the magazine. They lived in the top floors and worked on the bottom two levels.
Now, you can stay at the pet friendly hotel in several sized rooms (you can even book a block of rooms and close them off to create your own suite). It’s not only comfortable, but extremely modern, with gold finishes in the bathrooms, and gorgeous concrete floors. The rooms each feature a print with a different quote written on it. The white rooms are simple, yet sleek and offer an amazing place to kick up your feet after a long day exploring the concrete jungle.
The Hotel
When Life Hotel began renovations, they found a door in the basement that lead to a back room. When they opened the door, they found bottles from the prohibition Era everywhere! Because of this, they decided to open up a speakeasy.
When renovations end, there will also be a restaurant (which means all the breakfast in bed you can eat), a lobby bar, and gym. Renovations will conclude soon, and then you’ll really be able to find your relaxing oasis in the Big Apple. Until then, enjoy the luxurious rooms, complimentary continental breakfast, a daily happy hour in the lobby, and amazing location and proximity to some amazing places in Manhattan.
Travel Colorfully was welcomed as a guest of Life Hotel, but as always, all opinions are my own!
