Hop off a plane at Salzburg airport and spend about an hour and a half winding through the Austrian Alps. The Naturhotel Forsthofgut is located at the foot of the Leogang Mountains in Salzburg and the alps provide a stunning backdrop for the beautiful hotel.

The History
Dating back 400 years, Forsthogut has been around a long time. But, before it was a hotel, it was a forestry business and farm. In 1960 the hotel began to take shape and in 1980 it was expanded even more. Since then, generations of one family have run this hotel and continue to do so today!
Location, Location, Location
There is nothing more beautiful than waking up, heading out to your balcony, and seeing the snowcapped alps looming over you. And Forsthofgut is surrounded by the Leogang mountains, which makes you feel as if you’re living in a dream whenever you step outside or look out the window.
Because of its great location, the hotel is the perfect place to visit, no matter the season. During the summertime, parasail over green, lush meadows, or mountain bike down the steep terrain. Enjoy the organic bathing pond or take in the views from the heated pool. In the wintertime, grab your skis and hit the slopes in this awesome ski in- ski out spot. Ride the Astiz gondola in both seasons and enjoy an epic outdoor vacation.
The Food

Seriously, the food was one of my favorite things about Naturhotel Forsthofgut (which is why I don’t have any photos – I ate too fast). As a half board guest, you’re entitled to breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner.
The breakfast buffet is lined with meats and cheeses (in a cute little cheese drawer). Fresh squeezed juices and smoothies are plentiful. Even raw honeycomb can be found on the countertops. During afternoon tea, a selection of high quality salad ingredients take over and chefs prepare snacks so you don’t get hungry throughout the day. And then when dinner comes around, you can enjoy a five course meal all made with the freshest ingredients — all which can be found locally!
The Spa
The other fan favorite at Naturhotel Forsthofgut is the stunning spa. Spanning four floors, the spa is the perfect place to spend a brisk, rainy day. And if the sun is shining, you can soak up the rays at the rooftop pool.
Drift away in the relaxation room, go for a swim in the infinity pool, or enjoy the tranquility of the sauna area. And if you’re really interested in chilling out, book yourself into a massage. There are several options to choose from, but all will leave you feeling your best.
