As I said in my last post, a weekend in Barcelona is just not enough because of all of the amazing things you can go and see! It’s also not enough time because there are just so many delicious places to dine. So, you may be wondering, “where can I find the best food in Barcelona?” And while I sadly didn’t have enough time to check out every single restaurant and eatery in Barcelona, these are a few of my favorites.
The Best Food In Barcelona
I ate so many delicious tapas while in Barcelona. That definitely was the theme of most of our meals! And so I’m not only going to list some of my favorite spots to dine in the city, but I’m also going to share some dishes that I consider to be the best food in Barcelona! (Also just assume that I drank cava sangria with everything unless otherwise noted).
Tapeo
This was our first stop as soon as we arrived in Barcelona. I found this spot on The Culture Trip. I use that site all of the time for food suggestions, and it hasn’t failed me yet. But anyways, this little tapas restaurant can be found in el Born. It gets pretty busy around 9:30/10 PM as that’s when people tend to eat dinner in Spain.
I, unfortunately, have no photos of the food from Tapeo, but I can tell you what to order! My favorite was the aubergines with honey and lime and the Iberian pork ribs with honey and mustard. We also ordered the tomato with buffalo burrata, Pincho Murono of lamb with mint and yogurt, and the skirt of beef filet with chimichurri.
Restaurant 7 Portes
If you’re looking for some delicious and traditional paella, this is the spot to go. It’s one of the oldest restaurants in Barcelona and it serves up some of the best paella in the city. I did notice that it was a little bit touristy, but there were definitely local people eating there too. It seemed as if the locals who were eating there were dining for a special occasion!
La Alcoba Azul
This was a definite hole in the wall, but it had some good food. While I wouldn’t say it had the best food in Barcelona, it was still quite tasty! We went with the pork pate with figs, lamb tostas, bread with tomatoes, and Iberian ham. I think we just arrived to late and missed out on the good dishes. (That seemed to be a trend in Barcelona — places run out of food quite early).
PuroBeach
PuroBeach is located at the Hilton Diagonal Mar and they serve up food by the pool and in the restaurant on the terrace. I enjoyed the drinks we got at the pool, a berry mojito. We also had a massive portion of chicken tenders, which were delicious and exactly what we needed after being out all night the night before. The nachos were just okay, but the falafel sandwich and french fries were amazing.
When we had dinner on the terrace at PuroBeach, we had the Iberian ham to start, and then the grilled octopus, and the Nasi Goreng.
El Nacional – La Taperia
This was probably my favorite place we ate because of the experience. La Taperia is located inside of El Nacional, an eatery that has several restaurants inside. The decor is amazing and the food was pretty good too. The whole concept of Tapas Al Cante is that you don’t actually order your food. Instead, you wait until the waiter comes out with the hot dishes on his tray. He usually only has four or five servings, so you have to quickly raise your hand to claim a dish! It was so much fun shooting our hands up to get food!
We ate the Patatas Bravas, Bomba de La Barceloneta (my favorite), Huevos estrellados con jamon Iberico, Calamares a la adaluza, and Gambitas de Huelva Fritas.
La Boqueria
You can’t visit Barcelona without spending about an hour wandering through La Boqueria tasting different foods! Make sure to bring cash so you don’t have to spend the minimum at each place to use your card. If you do this, you’ll be able to try juices, fruits, meat cones, and more!
Collage
This isn’t a food place, but it’s one of the coolest cocktail bars I have ever been to! Collage serves up some serious drinks. The mixologists take time to craft the cocktails and you can absolutely tell. I ordered the Penicillin, which you’ll enjoy if you like drinking Whiskey!
