So now that you know exactly where to eat and drink in Florence, its time for the touristy things. Here are my top 10 things to do in Florence. If you have any other ideas, leave them in the comments! I’m always anxious to hear what other people’s favorite things to do are.
My favorite thing to do in Firenze is to grab a bottle of wine and some meats, cheese and a fresh baguette and head up to Piazzale Michaelangelo to watch the sunset. It’s the best thing to do with a group of friends or for a date. There is often live music by local artists and the whole vibe is fantastic. Or, if its rainy outside, I will head over to the Central Market or Mercato Centrale and eat upstairs in their delicious food court!
Climb the Duomo or the Bell Tower… I personally think that the view from the Bell Tower is prettier because you can see the Duomo and all of Florence.
Spend the afternoon wandering around the Uffizi gazing at gorgeous paintings like The Birth of Venus by Botticelli.
Check out the David in Accademia Gallery (make sure to book tickets ahead of time!).
Have a picnic in the Bobobli Gardens and wander around taking in the beautiful grounds of the Pitti Palace.
Head inside of Santa Croce to visit the tombs of people like Machiavelli and Michelangelo.
Head to San Lorenzo and shop for some leather goods. Make sure you check that the leather is authentic!!
Try some wine and cheese in the Central Market.
Stroll over the Ponte Vecchio or take in the view along the Arno.
People watch in Piazza della Signoria or Piazza della Repubblica.
